About me

I  completed  a  BA  in  Fine  Art  Painting  at  Norwich  School  of  Art  (1996-1999),

winning an award for my contribution to the course. I went on to complete an MA
(1999-2000)  in  Fine  Art  Painting.  During  this  time  my  work  was  chosen  for
inclusion in the Contemporary Arts Society Loan Collection and also the Norwich
City Council Collection.

I  then  completed  a  City  &  Guilds  Teaching  Certificate  (2001)  and  have  been
involved  in  a  number  of  outreach  programmes,  including  work  with  young
offenders,  people  with  special  needs,  single  parents  and  sheltered  housing
residents.  I  was  a  committee  member  of  the  Warehouse  Artists  Studios  in

For the past ten years I have been an Artist Consultant at the Sainsbury Centre
and was part of the “Sainsbury Centre on Tour” Project, working as a lead artist
within  a  team  of  teachers  and  Centre  guides  on  short  intensive  projects  in
primary and secondary education.

I have also worked for Creative Partnerships as an Artist and have been involved
in a number of large-scale projects, namely Bionic Bugs (part of the Norfolk and
Norwich  Festival)  and  the  Black  Shuck  performance  involving  a  number  of
schools in the Great Yarmouth area.

Description of Work
My  paintings  have  a  wide  scope  of  influence,  coming  from  autobiography,
landscape,  personal  observations  and  experiences.  The  iconography  of  the
Staffordshire  potteries,  from  where  I  originate,  i.e.  the  willow  pattern  and
vignettes from 18th Century ceramic designs are a recurring motif in my work. I
work in series, revisiting these familiar themes.
